Sofoklis Efremidis, Ph.D. received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1986, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University, USA in 1992 and 1994, respectively. He served as Analyst/Programmer at the Air Force Computing Center during his term of military duty. He then worked as a researcher at the Software Laboratory of NTUA and in October 1996 he started working at Intracom Telecom as a research program coordinaror. From February 1999 to September 2004, he was in charge of the Representation Office of Intracom Telecom in Brussels. Since 2004 he has been working in Athens Information Technology, initially as a researcher and then as an Assistant Professor. He is in charge of the Software Systems Group and Professional Education Programs. He has participated in many European and Industrial Research projects and has taught a large number of courses at undergraduate and graduate level, as well as in professional training programs. His interests are in the areas of Software Systems, Programming Languages, formal methods for software development, software development, cybersecurity, cryptocurrencies and blockchain applications, and web applications and mobile devices. He is the author of several research papers and has acted as project reviewer for the European Commission.
