The FIREMAN project (of which AIT is a key participant and in charge of its technical management) had its 1st face-to-face meeting on Thursday Aug. 29, 2019, in conjunction with the IEEE International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems 2019, held in Oulu, Finland; in fact, an entire special session entitled “Energy and Industrial Internet of Things Systems” was monopolized by FIREMAN related papers.

The meeting was attended by Prof Christou who presented AIT’s progress in the 3 months since the kickoff meeting of the project.
Given that the meeting was collocated with the above mentioned symposium, Prof. Christou presented a paper entitled “Avoiding the Hay for the Needle in the Stack: Online Rule Pruning in Rare Events Detection” as part of the Special Session on Energy and IIOT Systems.
In that same session, an overall paper on FIREMAN co-authored among others by Professors Papadias and Christou was also presented by the paper’s first author Prof. Pedro Nardelli (Lappeenranta University of Technology). The conference proceedings are already published and will be indexed in IEEE Xplore.
