AIT contributes to the recently published Roadmap on Optical Communications

19 May 2016
Dr. Ioannis Tomkos of AIT was one of the co-authors of the 2016 "Roadmap on Optical Communications" that was recently published in the "Journal of Optics" of IOPscience. A copy of this article is available at: http://goo.gl/ofb8Km (this article is published under a CC BY licence). The roadmap, authored collaboratively by a number of key selected researchers working in the field of optical communications, gives insight into the current status of each authors particular area of interest, the challenges being faced and the future direction. It should be a useful read for both established researchers and newcomers to the field.

“Overall it was an unique and fascinating experience. Participating in this multi-disciplinary course, obtaining state-of-the-art knowledge and hands on experience in many areas of network telecommunications and information technology, collaborating with an outstanding faculty, interacting with professors and students overseas and being an active member of the CMU community are only some of the competitive advantages of the program. The solid and interdisciplinary background I obtained through the MSIN program, along with AIT’s intense research activities, provided me with the necessary qualifications to continue with my PhD.”
