International Students

Our priorities are to offer you a competitive, academic education which excels by international standards and to introduce the beauty of Greece to you. We want your experience at AIT and in Greece to be unforgettable and to give you a taste of our beautiful country so that you return and visit us many times.
| Visas |
- Non-EU citizens require a valid passport with valid Visa in order to enter Greece.
- EU citizens may produce their national identity card in place of their passport, but it is still wise to bring your passport with you as you will need it to open a bank account.
Students applying for a Visa/Study Permit for Greece and to study at AIT at their respective Greek Consulate, are required to produce the following documents:
Documents prepared and provided by AIT:
1. ORIGINAL Acceptance Letter from AIT
2. Letter of scholarship award by AIT
3. Declaration of Accommodation from AIT
Documents to be prepared and submitted by the student:
1. Bank confirmation that tuition fees have been deposited (if applicable)
2. ORIGINAL Police Clearance Certificate
3. Health certificate, from a public hospital, stating that student does not have tuberculosis or hepatitis B’
4. Affidavit of Sponsorship (Official declaration by Sponsor) (if applicable)
5. Sponsor’s Income Tax statement and bank statement for the last two years (if applicable)
6. Visa Application Form with a passport-size photo attached (provided also by the local Greek Consulate).
7. Visa fee.
8. Valid passport
9 Completed DECLARATION OF FOREIGNER FOR STUDIES IN GREECE
10.Completed PARENTAL TUTOR DECLARATION
Please check with your respective Greek Consulate that there has been no change in the requirements of documents to be submitted and to learn about the full visa application procedure.

| Medical Insurance |
|
Emergency treatment is free at all in public hospitals. AIT provides full medical, accident and health insurance, with no charge, to all international students. Medical services are available on-campus Monday-Friday from 08:30-16:00.

| Arriving in Athens |
The Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” is located only 10 minutes by car from AIT.
Please be sure to contact the Admissions Office to provide us with your arrival date, flight and time.

| Opening a bank account |
|
Bank hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00-14:30 and Friday 08:00-14:00. The International Students Affairs Office will assist you to open a bank account upon your arrival. To open a bank account you will need your passport and a minimum deposit of 50 euros. You cannot open an account before you arrive in Greece. Banks and ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) may be found all over the city. An ATM is available on-campus.

One of the advantages of living among fellow students from different corners of the world is the opportunity to learn from each other and experience unusual cultural traditions and habits. The Student Secretariat and Accommodations Office foster a supportive environment for you, who are joining us from a variety of ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, and facilitate your integration and interaction with the faculty and administration. Being a part of this experience enables you to support each other during your learning and educational process. The ability to live with other students who are different, think differently and who hold diverse opinions is a unique and educational opportunity.

| Accommodation |
|
Unlike traditional housing, our self-catering en-suite apartment-style accommodations are tailored specifically for the students at AIT. The Accommodations Office makes every effort to meet your needs and is available for any residential support you may require to make your stay at AIT and in Athens enjoyable. The Student Secretariat works closely with you regarding any concerns or problems (from academic, social to personal), ensuring your smooth transition into and productive conclusion of your academic year. Our Housing is walking distance from the main AIT building and consists of 20 apartments (single or double occupancy) each with its own bathroom, complete internet and AIT network, communal kitchen and laundry facilities. Apartments are fully furnished and bed and bath linen are provided. Nearby public transportation to Athens provides access to the city center. A recreation room, lounge, restaurant and bookstore at the main AIT facility are available for your use. Please take the time to review AIT’s Housing Policies & Procedures Private rented accommodation is also available. The Accommodations Office maintains updated information on local apartments in the city center and facilitates the rental procedure. Upon arrival, you will be given a comprehensive orientation which includes information on practical issues such as transport, banking, postal facilities, health care, shopping, tourism and travel, Greek cultural habits and traditions, basic Greek words and phrases. On this occasion you will also have the opportunity to make any personal requests.

On Monday, March 8, 2010, 40 students graduated from AIT ‘s Master in Management of Business, Innovation, and Technology (MBIT) . The graduates are from Armenia, Greece, Jordan, and Romania. The guest speaker at the graduation was Mr. Marios Kyriakou, President and CEO of KPMG Hellas.
